The base graphic I developed for this comparison is: filesize1.psp. The original graphic is 206 x 206, 72 pixels/inch, 16M colors, 1 layer. When displayed in PSP 5 it is 124kb. When saved in PSP format it is 107kb.
Here are examples of filesize1.psp saved in GIF format v89a, non-interlaced. Each file was color reduced a different way. File display size, file store size, and loading times are given.

Note that the color reduction method used on filesize1b.gif gives the closest approximation of the original file's gradient background. It also offers the least amount of reduction in file size.
